Anchored around a 880 surface acre reservoir, the park offers a natural prairie environment. Gentle, rolling hills and complete outdoor recreation facilities such as for camping, picnicking, and group events are all available.
There’s more to Cherry Creek than traditional park activities. Hard-to-find and unique activities including model airplane flying, horseback riding, as well as, a family shooting range are available too.
Fixed targets for rifles and pistols, as well as a trap area for shotguns and more can be found at Family Shooting Center. This is located in the southern area of the park. Call 303-680-5401 for information. Firearms are prohibited elsewhere in the park and hunting is not allowed.
This popular park often reaches capacity on summer weekends, therefore, you may opt to choose off-peak periods such as weekdays, before or after work, early spring or late fall. These times are less crowded, therefore providing a quieter experience. Winter months are a tranquil treat for hikers and nature lovers as well an assortment of winter activities.
