JEEP TRANSFORMATION PHOTOS
This is our 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4×4. We bought this rig a while back to use when out and about on the back roads of our beautiful country. As you can see this is one UGLY Jeep. However, that is going to change with the help of our friends at POCAHONTAS AUTO BODY in Pocahontas, Arkansas. The Jeep has already undergone several mechanical repairs to make it road worthy. Mechanical repairs thus far have been done by TYLER’S AUTOMOTIVE & AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS in Maynard, AR and JOHNNIE’S AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE in Maynard, AR.
PAINT & BODY
POCAHONTAS AUTO BODY will be straightening the sheet metal, making the doors open and close properly, and applying a new coat of paint. WOW, that should help the looks of this thing. The Jeep will eventually get new bumpers, lift kit, tires & wheels, winch, lights, sound system, interior, graphics (www.boa247.com), and maybe even a high performance engine rebuild. Now that will be one fine looking Jeep. But, for now, it is still one UGLY Jeep.
We here at BREATHAWAY OUTDOORS AMERICA, INC. will be following the step by step transformation. New pictures will be posted showing the progress that is being made.
We invite YOU to follow along as this transformation takes place. Feel free to leave suggestions or comments and be sure to stop and say “HEY” when you see the Jeep out and about.
For more information about the VENDORS mentioned on this JEEP TRANSFORMATION see the automotive listings in Arkansas on www.boa247.com.
LET THE TRANSFORMATION BEGIN:

As you can see in the pictures above, our Jeep is still really ugly. Stay with us because major changes are on the way. We recently installed a new headliner. We did this ourselves. Not too bad for rookies, and hey, the dome lights and mirror lights even work now that we’re done.

Just dropped the jeep off at Tyler’s Automotive & Automatic Transmissions for a complete engine rebuild, and new fuel pump. Pictures and video’s will be posted soon.

The plan was to finish the paint and body work first, however, the engine in our ugly jeep had a burned piston on the #6 cylinder. Crazy thing is that it actually ran really good, although it kept fouling the plug and had began to blow oil. So far we are adding a new radiator and a stainless steel exhaust header. The engine has been pulled and is currently undergoing all necessary machine work for a complete rebuild. Stay in touch to follow the engine rebuild.
ENGINE REBUILD
The engine rebuild will be completed by Tyler’s Automotive & Automatic Transmissions in Maynard, AR. You can view Tyler’s post HERE.

The machine work is completed on the 4.0L. We bored it .030, turned the crankshaft, & had the head reworked. Waiting on parts so we can get this baby back together and running. Jim’s Auto Machine Shop in Paragould, AR did all the machine work. Be sure to check out the videos below showing the machine work being done. You can view Jim’s post HERE.

The engine is completed. The jeep is now running very good. Made a trip to Little Rock in it on Friday. Got 21 mpg. Didn’t use or blow any oil——-now that’s a great thing.

Our old Jeep really needed tires to make it road worthy. We are making preparations to get the paint and body work done. We wanted to get all that done before we do the lift, tires and wheels. So, we decided to put a set of Mickey Thompson Deegan 38 tires on to get us by until we get the lift, new wheels and 33″ tires. We got a really good deal on the tires at 4 Wheel Parts.

Just had Tyler’s Automotive install new 4140 chromoly axles in the rear end. We got these from CSE OFFROAD. Be sure to check out CSE OFFROAD HERE for all things JEEP.

It’s been a while since I have updated the progress on the Jeep. We have had quite a bit of work done. New heater core, new power steering pump, new fuel pump, new tie rods, ball joints and probably other stuff I have missed. We had planned to have the body work and paint all finished by now but we have been trying to get all the mechanical issues addressed. Getting close, so, be sure to stay with us on this project.
