PIEDMONT PARK RECREATION AREA PHOTOS
Piedmont Park is the largest campground area on Clearwater Lake boasting the largest beach and picnic area as well. It is also the closest to the dam on the lake side.
This area is most popular with pleasure boaters, but the fishing is also good too. The rocky jetties extending into the lake from the dam attract bait fish, as well as, crayfish. The brush piles that have been added inside the points help newcomers to figure out where the fish are.Fishing from pontoons at night is also popular here.
New beach and launch ramps, as well as, launch ramp parking have been added to reduce congestion at busy times and to allow use when lake levels are high. New access roads to the day use facilities and marina separate traffic from the campground to reduce traffic through the area. Of the 95 campsites, 84 have electricity and 17 have water. Camp Loop B now has 50 amp electricity, as well as, water for larger RV’s.
Hunting is permitted on project lands around Clearwater Lake. A proper license must be obtained from the Missouri Department of Conservation. Game species found in the area include deer, quail, squirrels, and rabbit, as well as, turkey and doves. Many people travel to this area every year to hunt the ample supply of deer in the area.
